Don’t Panic | Zoe & Sarah
thesarahbriggs:
Sarah’s heart stopped when she heard Zoe’s description of the accident. It was much more serious than she’d first thought. Tiffany, Carter, and their offspring would be lucky to be alive. Not wanting to alarm Zoe, Sarah smiled reassuringly at her. “I’m sure they’ll be okay,” her voice was soft and hopefully helped soothed some of her friend’s fears. She didn’t know Carter or Tiffany very well but they seemed like nice people and she hated the thought of anything bad happening to them. Even though she wasn’t a religious person, Sarah sent a quick prayer to the powers that be to help the young couple pull through. They both had so much more ahead of them and it would be an unspeakable tragedy for them to lose it all at such a young age. While sitting at a stoplight she took in her roommate’s appearance. The bright, bubbly, sweet girl she knew had transformed into a shaken bundle of nerves. “There’s tissues in the glove compartment if you need any,” she gestured to the area quickly before placing her hands firmly back on the wheel. It wouldn’t do to have them get in an accident on the way to check on survivors of another accident. A few minutes later they were finally at the hospital. Sarah pulled into the E.R. parking lot and put the car in the park. “I think this is probably a family only kind of thing. I hope everything goes well for Carter, Tiffany, and the little ones. Call me when you need me to pick you up,” she smiled shakily and waited on Zoe to agree.
Zoe was definitely anything but bubbly, tears spilling over though she fought against letting herself fully cry. She hated crying, she never let things affect her so intensely, but the thought of her brother losing the first person that had made him feel home and complete was too heartbreaking. She pressed her forehead against her knees and wiped the tears away on rough denim of her jeans, she too sending up a silent prayer, if ever all that time spent in church praising the Lord could be cashed in for a miracle, Zoe was hoping for that right then. Tiffany had to be okay, she and those two precious babies growing inside her needed to make it, they just had to. The tiny blonde heard her friend’s voice and she turned her head to look over at Sarah, giving her a little nod of appreciation. “Thanks… I hate crying.” she sighed, reaching into the glove box, pulling out a few, stuffing them in her pockets. She breathed out shakily as they pulled into the hospital lot, suddenly feeling extremely anxious and just plain antsy. As soon as the car came to a stop, she unbuckled the seat belt and opened the door, glancing back at her roommate, giving her a little nod. “Thank you, Sarah.. for everything and I’ll probably sleep here tonight, don’t want to leave my brother until we know Tiff’s gonna be okay. Thanks again.. I’ll keep you posted on how things are going. Drive safe..” And with that, she closed the door and made a mad dash into the Hospital’s ER.
